NYC in august
so, it appears that i'll be spending five days in NYC in august. the weather notwithstanding, i'm looking forward to my first visit to the city in probably ten years.
so, i'm not really up to date on fun things to do in the city (although i do have a few things in mind)... perhaps those of you who live there or have visited recently could make some suggestions!
i think we've already found a good, cheap place to stay.

Shake Shack! (www.shakeshack.com) Best burgers in town. Beware the lines around lunch, though. I hear they can be up to an hour long.
Doughnut Plant (www.doughnutplant.com). I haven't been but I hear they do some frikkin' awesome donuts.
There's an exhibition on British fashion at the Metropolitan (www.metmuseum.org) thru the summer
Summerstage in Central Park (www.summerstage.org) has a lot of great free concerts. Altho most of the really good stuff is in July, there's some good looking shows in early August.
Gothamist (www.gothamist.com) is a good place to look for things going on in NYC

There's a Lush store in NYC, 34th and Broadway, if you're in the market for unusual bath products. I've never bought any Lush but it's fun to look at everything in the store. It seems to attract the same level of customer devotion as BPAL -- often from the people.
