need new telly

so, i've found that a good way to get myself through a big web site development project is to continuously watch a tv series on dvd while doing the development work. something i really like.

so i've worked my way through all the available episodes of:

now, i think i've decided that the sopranos is just too violent for me. six feet under is great, but it makes me think about death all the time and believe me, i don't need to be doing that.

so... suggestions on a series to carry me through the end of this project? preferably something i can get from netflix. it doesn't have to be recent. like, maybe i should re-watch the prisoner or something.

just don't suggest dr. who. gawd.

the avengers!

- the only drawback is the lack of a plot that links each episode, but its still really fucking engrossing. and it has lots and lots of pretty colors.

Twin Peaks?

If you don't already have the Prisoner episodes, I can loan them to you.

first of all... how can you code & watch tv at the same time??

secondly, have you seen "insomniac"?

thirdly, i've heard good things about "the office", "queer as folk" and "oz"

i have the first season of 24 on dvd if you want to borrow it. the first season was great!

i also have the last season of sex and the city on vhs (taped for me by my mommy) if you don't want to wait for the dvds.

the sopranos is also good tv, if you don't mind lots of violence (sometimes disturbing). and six feet under is really neat and has good music.

i'm busy counting down till the oc is on dvd. not till october! (yes i'm lame, but that's not news.)

i think i'm liking the idea of the prisoner and the avengers. it's always good to be watching something really visually stylish while doing any kind of design work-- i find.

i've seen them before but that's ok. it's been a few years since i went on a prisoner kick.

the avengers kind of make me think about my ex (his car was named mrs. peel) but whatever. the extreme coolness and style of the avengers surpass all such trivial concerns :)

If The Sopranos is too violent for you, I wouldn't recommend Oz. It's good but extremely violent.

How about: Friends, X-Files, Changing Rooms, I Claudius (if you're feeling highbrow), The Simpsons (if you're feeling lowbrow), Monty Python (if you're feeling really lowbrow). Or there's Babylon 5, which I never watched, but a lot of people liked it. Other well-reviewed shows I never watched; Smallville, 24, West Wing, CSI, Law & Order, The Office, MI-5, Coupling (the BBC version).

i also have space ghost, but the episodes are pretty hit-or-miss. visually entertaining though . . .

oh my gosh, i can't believe i forgot to suggest west wing! but you really have to pay close attention to the dialogue or you get incredibly lost...
