sneaking out

phil says:

"Sneaking out -- did you listen to the This American Life feature about the girl who made up a family that she "babysat" for, so she could get out of the house?"

i'm interested in other people's teenaged sneaking-out experiences. i did it constantly my junior and senior years in high school. sometimes i'd just go for long walks by myself, though usually i had some social agenda. my friend marsh lived in what was meant to be a separate apartment attached to his father's house, so it was very easy to go in and out of his room as we pleased. his father also seemed to be deaf or a heavy sleeper, because we could have a dozen people in that room and music at close to normal volume and he never seemed to notice.

so tell me about yours-- how often? why? were you ever caught?

i snuck out a LOT in high school, esp. my junior year. usually it was to meet this boy i was sort of dating, but soemtimes it was to meet other boys i was friends w/, and we'd go get drunk in the park. sometimes i snuck out to go see--and later star in, as magenta--the rocky horror picture show. once i snuck out to have a snowball fight w/ a different group of friends. and once i snuck out and hung out w/ a bunch of yeshiva girls.

i was almost caught once, by my mother, when i accidentally stepped on the cat.

i think i was caught another time by my brother, since he had a friend sleeping over and obviously they figured out i wasn't home, and i had to stay outside till they fell asleep and i could come back in. i'm pretty sure he told my mom i was gone but no one ever confronted me about it!

sometimes i stayed home from school the next day with flu-like symptoms--i.e., very bad hangovers. but usually i crawled in and bragged about my exploits. :)

Sadly, I never snuck out. My parents were fairly strict and I was fairly compliant at home. But I did often spend the night with other friends with whom I'd party through the night.

i actually didn't drink at all when i was in high school. i was afraid to. walking around raleigh by myself at night didn't scare me, but drinking did-- go figure :)

i didn't have to sneak out to go to rocky horror. it was the one thing i was allowed to stay out late and do. my mom said it was because she knew where i was and what i was doing.

HAHA! oh boy, I have some recrent stories about sneaking out....By the way, I am a sophmore in high-school!

I snuck out of my house to go to a party at my friends house with my boyfriend who drives. He is graduated from high-school so of course he is attending all of the partys. Anyways, we went to this boys house and I ended up get really wasted! lol. I went to go to the bathroom and these two guys toled me they were going to show me the bathroom, well they took me downstairs and while I was going to the bathroom one of them opened the door, I would have to put myself out as respecting myself, so it pissed me off. One of them kept trying to mack me, and the other "touching" me...well, I didnt know this but they locked the upstairs door and my boyfriend and everyone else was locked out. Finally, somehow my BF got in and got me out, and the two dumb boys didnt end up doing anything. I then went on a "walk" in the orchard by myself and guys kept following me, I was drunk off my ass, and I lost my favorite heels!!! I ended up gettign a piggy ride back to my BF's car by a boy. We then left the party, and I automatically fell into a deep sleep. Right when we were in town, I had to wake up and make myself painfully nacious(sp), I threw up in my boyfriends 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT! yikes...Being concerned, he called his older brother so that we could go to his house and get me some water and figure out a plan to get me into my house. My BF's brother went to the front door of my house and rang the door bell at 4:00am! My parents were sooooo mad!

Thats not all:

While spending the night at my best friend, EB's house, we decided we would venture off to a party, it was the Friday of Halloween my goodness! So, we got a ride to the party and I ended up consumuing approx. 11 shots of Vodka Vanilla, which is plain nasty! I was really tired so I went to my boyfriends house and slept, well when EB and my BF came back, he carried me out of his house. Sure enough, his mom woke up to let out the dog and I remember her saying, "you stay the hell away from my son"....Of course, she then called my parents, which were DEEPLY inimpressed.

Yikes, I have tried to tell my parents that I want to go to partys, but they always say they HAVE to call the parents, which is frightfully embarrasing. I have a really crazy, outgoing, and fun personality, and therefore staying locked up in the house during the weekend is not an option. I would think they would rather know where I was than have to wonder...

Those are just two of my stories of sneaking out!!! ;-)

Ive snuck out of my house before to go to my friends house cuz me and my mom got in this fight and said i couldnt go so when my mom left and my dad was homei turned on my radio and then snuck out and had my friend pick me up in a golfcart. so then when i came back to my house i got locked out of my window and the back and frontdoors were locked so then i knocked on the back door and my dad asked me how i got locked outside and i said that i acciedently locked myself outback and then my door was locked and i had to get his keys and he said how did you get locked out of your room and i said that i accidently locked it and the wind slammed my door shut. how dumb was he to not figure it out? but if my mom was there she wouldve definantly noticed.

sounds like sneaking out is part of everyones life at one point or another. as for myself, i too do my share of sneaking out. in fact i do it every other night. my boyfriend well ex boyfriend lives only a few houses away. it all started my freshman year in high school, when we started dating, and now i am a junior. in the beinging i would NEVER sneak out cuz i would get to nervous, so he would sneak in my room. after doing that for a few months, everynight* he finally got caught in my room. so we had to change our plans and so i began going over to his house. but when i would go over i wouldnt go into his house, cuz i was scared of his parents finding me and than not liking me anymore, so we would sleep in his truck. althought that doesnt sound to romantic in some strange way it really was.after i got use to sneaking out i finally decided to sneak in. and since than its been going on all the time!

I've sneaked out so many times since my freshmen year. I'm currently a junior in highschool. I live with my grandparents and they are SUPER STRICT. During my freshmen year, I snuck out just to go see a movie or just sleep over at my best friends house (I'm not aloud to go to sleepovers etc.) It was innocent. Than sophmore year, I snuck out to see my boyfriend...alot. Eventually I got caught by grandma when she didn't see me in my bed at 4 a.m. one night , and called my cell phone when I'm right in front of the door. She was P.O., and so was my grandpa. So far during my junior year, I snuck out like 6 times. I went to those "wild" parties and got drunk for the first time. I didn't get caught, it's just that my grandpa saw that my window was unlock, that's all.So he assume I was sneaking out. I don't blame him though, I use to be such a a naive innocent good girl. In my opinion, the stricter the parents/guardians are on their kids, eventually they are going to rebel.

I sneak out a lot. In fact, I'm sneaking out today, which is why I looked up sneaking out in google. I jack up garages all the time and have many fun times. Last night, I took a piss in someones car, and stole 3 pairs of gloves, a hell of a lot of matches, and 2 free McDonalds tickets. Sneaking out is the best part of my life. It's the only time I can live my life. My friend supplies me with smokes and shit, and we have lots of fun jacking people up. Today we are going to try the method of ducktaping then smashing ones window. It will be much fun indeed. Btw I am in grade 8 and I don't usually talk nerdy like that. Does anyone have a good link on a site that teaches you how to pick locks? It's fun to jack up peoples cars, take the stuff you don't want and put it in other peoples garbages. Yesterday we jacked a fridgemate pop can thing, and we put the empty cans scattered around the neighbors garbage. We do it all the time and I can only imagine the fights they get in, because while a six pack of lemonade isn't much, the stuff we DID take was. Like a pocket knife, nice pair of gloves, lighters, matches, etc. Well that about sums it up.

My parents are really strict. I hate them for it. I have almost no friends beause I always have to be the one to say, "no, my mom said I cant." I was at my one friends sleep-over and it was the best fun I have ever had. I made friends with a ton of people, because I snuck out with them. I owe any friends that I have to sneaking out. It's such a rush. We went through town, snuck into another friends house to get some fireworks(he was with us), and went to the elementary school soccer field to blow 'em off. It was awesome. We came back, had a party with the leftover pizza, with people sleeping in the next room. I'll never forget it.

TIPS: 1)go through the basement if possible.
2)wear socks while sneaking out
3)dont bring a stupid person along, he'll almost ruin it
4)HAVE FUN!!!!!, no ones awake, so have a blast!

Sneaking out has been something ive been doing since the summer between my sophmore and junior year. it was the only way i could really hang out with my friends since my curfew was 11:30 which was gay. ive only gotten caught twice and both was because my mom randomly got up and checked my bed and found that my bed was stuffed. ive snuck out probably more than 75 times but getting caught is something that is bound to happen when you do it that much so i dont mind to much. now i mostly sneak out to hang out with my boyfriend at night and go to his house to sleep til like 4 or 5 and then go back to my house or go to party's. sneaking out is fun and i think its just something that almost everyone tries a couple times in your life even my mom who's caught me has told me of her stories.

I remember high school like it was yesterday. I was sort of a stoner and me and my friends always snuck out to blaze. One time my girl friend and my best friend and his girlfriend all snuck into my house and hot boxed my room. Those were the days.

i started sneaking out in the 7th grade... one of my best friends lives 4 houses down so i always sneak out with him... we started out sleeping over my house and then going out my window... and then we got smarter... we would sneak out of our houses and go to parties or just chill in my neighborhood...sometimes we get picked up by our older friends... im a sophmore now and i sneak out just about every night... we have the best times when me and my friend matt sneak out... now i just walk out my front door... very quietly... then i go do crazy stuff... we walk most of the time, even though new york is freezing... but we always end up at parties or driving around or even when we r alone we have an awsome time... sneaking out is deffinately worth the risk
