went and saw 'matrix revolutions' with a bunch of folks last night. it fucking rocked! ok, the first little bit was boring, talk talk talk plot plot plot "neo i LOOOVVVEEEE you" (trinity is so boring), but then the action started up and it was good from there on out. some good female warrior action to help make up for the boring helpless stand-by-her-man lameness that is trinity. way funner than the last one.

i wonder why it is that trinity is such a dishrag in the "real world" but such a hardcore action hero inside the matrix? morpheus and neo (and niobe, to the limited extent her character was developed) seem to be essentially the same person, whether they're inside or outside the matrix. i fear the answer is: bad writing.
that said, i enjoyed revolutions muchly. sure the ending is rather open-ended and "meh" (easily paves the way for them to pull a george lucas in 15 years with a second trilogy) but i rather admire the wachowskis for not succumbing to standard blockbuster happy ending syndrome

i'm inclined to agree with your "bad writing" assessment, but another possible explanation is that, in the matrix, trinity is almost always on a mission to save neo, whereas outside the matrix, she's usually without much purpose. does she have a job on the nebuchednezzar? if she does, it doesn't seem to keep her very occupied. i think her job might be to wring her hands and look drawn while neo is unconscious.
