condo time
so the other day the roof leaked right into the living room, and i haven't yet paid the roofer for the last job. add that to all the usual house stuff and there are days when i think maybe i should just live in a condo in Cary. of course, then i'd have to live in Cary, which would make for a short commute and the total and complete loss of my soul.
so what about condos in durham? wow, do you know how nice of a condo i could buy in durham? really nice. like, big kitchen with an island and pretty new appliances.
eh, i know i wouldn't really want to, but sometimes home ownership doesn't seem worth it.

being a renter once again, i'm happy to admit that there is a certain freedom in being able to call up the landlord and saying, "hey, my faucet is acting up. oh, and can you take a look at that window while you're here?"
but i also have to save quarters for laundry and i hear people through shared walls.
i think i'd rather be a homeowner.

Well, there are the ones they are building at the corner of Washington and Trinity--the "Trinity Lofts": http://www.urbandurhamlofts.com/
I've lived in a small condo project (6 units), and Mark was the president of the condo board, so we were always fixing the roof, the boiler, the fencing --living in a house is much easier than that!

lisa, good point, if i really wanted condo living i could keep my current location and move into the lofts. in fact, that location is actually a few blocks closer to the action than my house is. of course, that would make letting j's puppy out right before bed, and in the morning, a little tricky. there doesn't seem to be any green at all in that development. yet another reason why i probably don't really want to live in a condo :)
christa, i think with condos it might be the worst of both worlds-- you can hear the neighbors, but there's no landlord to call.

Oh yeah, and one more thing: Who would want to go to a Hallowe'en party at "The Charming English Condo of Death?"

HA!!! that's hilarous.
however, if i were to move-- anywhere-- the new place would need a new name. i guess the trinity lofts could be "the bleak modern desolation crypt" or some such crap.
