Gingerbread
1/3 C shortening
1/3 C water
1/3 C molasses
1/3 C sugar
1 egg
1 C flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Heat water and butter until butter is melted. Add molasses, sugar and egg; beat until sugar is dissolved. Sift dry ingredients and beat into wet.
Grease loaf pan, bake at 350 for 30-40min
note: IIRC Bunch of Pants found this recipe a little dry. Be conservative about the baking time, especially if you are using a pan that is wider than a loaf pan (which I usually do).

I made these tonight, for the party...
Crunchy Fudge Sandwiches
1 C (6oz) butterscotch chips
1/2 C peanut butter
4 C rice krispies
1 C chocolate chips
1/2 C sifted confectioners sugar
2 T butter
1 T water
Melt butterscotch chips and peanut butter over low heat in a large, heavy saucepan, stirring until blended. Add rice krispies. Press 1/2 of mixture in buttered 8×8" square pan. Chill. Set remainder of mixture aside.
Melt remaining ingredients in a double boiler. Spread over chilled mixture. Allow to cool and top with remaining rice krispy mixture (re-heat slightly if necessary). Chill. Cut into small squares.

I am considering making a small pitcher of these, provided I can find creme de noyaux. I figure floating 151-proof rum on the top can be optional for those not wishing to become complete wasted, instantly.
Zombie
1 oz light rum
3/4 oz creme de noyaux
1/2 oz triple sec
1 1/2 oz sour mix
1 1/2 - 2 oz orange juice
1 Tbsp. 151-proof rum
crushed ice
Blend until smooth; float 151-proof rum on top.

You probably already know this but: "Creme de noyaux is an almond-flavored liqueur, a type of alcoholic beverage, which is made from fruit pits and is pink in color." (from Wikipedia)
I've never been all that impressed by the offerings at your basic ABC store. OTOH, there are probably several almond-flavored liqeurs that could be substituted in for that.

yes, i looked it up last night while researching the drink. i remembered looking for it and not being able to find it when i first got my tiki drinks book.
i remembered the cameron village ABC store being a little more diverse than the hillsborough road store, so i went there today at lunch. they do have a wide selection of wacky cordials, but no creme de noyaux. i bought creme de almond instead, and a fifth of 151-proof rum.
i think i'll try the drink in advance without the 151-proof and without blending it with ice. it's a little chilly these days for a frozen beverage.
i could put it in a flame-proof container, float the 151-proof on top and light it... call it a Flaming Zombie :)
