pastrami quest: failure!
we had one weekend to find a pastrami on rye (kosher not required). while we got good advice from many, ultimately, no pastrami sandwich was consumed.
- Piedmont: this would have probably been great, but they only serve lunch on weekdays, only serve the pastrami at lunch-- and they're closed for a month. So that was a no-go.
- The Food Factory seemed like our next best bet, but it's a half hour drive away, and by the time we could get over there, it was too short of a time before J had to go. So that was a no-go.
- Nosh seemed like a sure bet. It's close to my house and according to citysearch, they'd be open all day Sunday. Googling did not reveal that they have their own web site. Well, we got there and it turns out that they now close at 3pm on Sunday, which was too late for us. But I was able to get their web site URL from their locked door.
So we went over to Tyler's Taproom, where I've been meaning to take J for a long time anyway, because they have hard cider on tap. Which he enjoyed so it was all good anyway.
Thanks everyone for the pastrami advice!

wtf? the lunch menu is not availabe on weekends? oh well, since they're closed all month i'll have time to wrap my brain around that concept.
we were at nosh this morning and it turns out they have a corned beef sandwich on the menu, not pastrami.

you know, if we'd been able to have brunch there (which we did try to do), we certainly could have asked if the pastrami sandwich could be made available. and i'll admit that i didn't even check the brunch menu for it.
after i made this post i read the nosh menu and realized that indeed, no pastrami on there anywhere.

Sorry: didn't realize your pastrami distress call was time-sensitive. Next time I'll be more alacritous, and maybe go do some quick tasting around town to help out. :)

I empathize with the pastrami quest, so much so that I started a little blog listing all of the authentic delis in the US. http://delirama.blogspot.com. Please pardon the spam, so to speak.

ok, so a) your comment won't post right away because i have to approve it first and b) you might get a server error but your comment probably posted anyway and c) previewing doesn't work so i've removed the preview button.
