when you impulse buy one of those little fried pies, that's an impulse pie.

My favorite impulse pie is the cherry pies from Whole Foods. I hadn't had one in forever and Georg and I shared a small one in December. Alas, the crust wasn't as good as before. Kinda tough actually. I bet they had to stop using hydrogenated shortening.

my impulse pie purchase was at char-grill, where they really know how to use a fryolator.

ex-quise me?!? there has never been any frikkin' shortening in WFM pie crusts. the difference is that the pie shells are being made in Ratlanta now instead of NC. they're supposed to be using the same recipe but they ain't quite got the skillz yet...
nor do we have a fryolator. (altho we should)
