here's some more info on the cremaster cycle which i dug out of the IMDB. since i was curious.
the cycle has five parts which were made out of order.
#4 - 1995 - 42 min.
#1 - 1996 - 40 min.
#5 - 1997 - 55 min.
#2 - 1999 - 1 hour, 20 min.
#3 - 2002 - 3 hours
if they're showing #3 tonight, i might just hold out for a chance to a) see the whole cycle and b) see #3 in a comfortable theater. 3 hours is a damned long time to sit in a folding chair (which is what i'm assuming i'll be sitting in.)

and here's some interesting and well-presented info on barney and the cycle on the pbs web site.

One of the films (probably #1) was part of the Whitney Biennial in 96, along with some related installation pieces by Barney. I don't remember much about the video except that it was plotless and didn't really engage me. But it's very visually striking (even though I couldn't describe it, I have a very definite memory of what it looked like)
fwiw, I read somewhere recently that he was dating Bjork
