ah, the decadence
well, so i took a look at the budget and decided things were going ok. and then lunch was kinda free, no oncall today, no 1pm meeting... so ah what the hell, i went to old navy and tried on 900 things and took my time and then i bought things at actual full price-- two skirts and a tank top. and then i went over to dsw and i bought those shoes i wanted. not at full price though, because a) nothing at dsw is full price and b) i had a 15% off coupon.
one of the skirts definitely doesn't follow "the rules", but i don't care. i think it looks good and i like it.

ooh! which rules does the skirt break?

heh :)
well, it's probably too long, and it's definitely too flouncy. also, it's pure black with no pattern-- they're always picking on people for wearing too much black.

dang, i have about 6 knee-length black skirts and a couple longer ones. guess i'm a rulebreaker at heart!

Is the skirt one of those in the new commercial where everyone is twirling? Also, fill me in on the "rules"?

:)
well, they like knee-length on everyone, so long as its shaped right. and you wear lots of colors and patterns in general, so they wouldn't pick on you about black.

steph: i don't remember seeing that commercial but i bet it is! i should be sure to twirl when i wear it.
for skirts they usually tell people to get something that hits around the knee (just below or just above for some people); usually they want a little flair out at the bottom or an a-line, unless the person has a particular kind of figure, in which case occasionally they recommend a pencil skirt. long, flowing hippie skirts are always rule-breakers; they want some leg showing.
but hey, i thought you didn't like "what not to wear" because they make people look like not themselves? ;)
i have another friend who objects strenuously to the show because he says they make everyone look "too New York". i've argued with him many times about that, to no avail.

since i'm wearing a knee-length black skirt w/ a black tank top and black cardigan, they might have some issues. just one reason to hate the rules!

She doesn't like "what not to wear" at all. I, on the other hand, love that show, because people come out of it looking ten times better than they started. Sometimes people shouldn't look like themselves; they should look like the hottie version of themselves.

ok, so a) your comment won't post right away because i have to approve it first and b) you might get a server error but your comment probably posted anyway and c) previewing doesn't work so i've removed the preview button.
