looking for a sniff-fest location
first point of order, sarah, alicia and i are having another sniff-fest this sunday afternoon to share our fall booty. i've got the entire pumpkin patch, plus some other tasties. i wore a pumpkin patch scent to work yesterday and one of my co-workers said it smelled "GOOOOOOOOD!"
second, we are looking for a practical indoor location. we had been meeting at caffe driade and sitting outdoors, but it'll be too cold for that. we'd like to find a comfortable, laid back coffee shop where the smellies won't blow away the other patrons. without Ooh La Latte around (sob!), we're at a loss as to where to meet.
Any suggestions?

Try the new Open Eye in Carrboro. It's HUGE!

thanks, minty! that sounds like it would work.

i noticed the other day that someplace new has opened in what was the OLL space.
i like bean traders on ninth -- they have that whole downstairs space for seating, and excellent coffee.

my concern with bean traders' basement is that it's too small-- we'll be right under everyone's noses. and it'll be crowded on a sunday afternoon.
i had also noticed that there's something in the old OLL location-- i should check it out. the seating didn't look comfortable, but of course, it's a very spacious space, so we could probably get a corner to ourselves and not bother others.

I thought the OLL folks had migrated elsewhere?

yes, i think they are downtown. i had forgotten that, although i've heard there's zero atmosphere.
the untidy museum is now separate from OLL, and i think untidy provided most of the coolness to OLL.

mary has been to the coffee shop in the new OLL. she says it's very spacious.
i might also recommend blayloc, downtown next to the arts council. TONS of space, and word has it that they have amazing food.

The old OLL space is now occupied by Broad St Cafe. Tried going a couple of weeks ago, but they weren't open weekends then. Website says they are now, though.

The folks who used to run Ooh La Latte & the Untidy Museum moved to 305 South & the Electric Blender. They're still working on things there, but it's coming along. (Just got back from playing there.)

I've heard good things about Blayloc, too, but haven't been in yet. Like xta, I've heard their food is excellent.

(Yes, I know you can look up URLs, but I had them all handy.)
