BPAL: Midway, Succubus, Harvest Moon

midway

"A bombardment of edible carnival indulgences. Funnel cake, caramel apple, cotton candy, salt water taffy and sugar tart."

just as promised, both in the bottle and on, sugar sweetness with a hint of food behind it. makes me want to eat funnel cakes, or better yet, go to the fair!

succubus

"Bat-winged, flame-eyed, and possessed of an unearthly, perfect beauty: the Daughters of Lilith, the Succubi, invade the dreams of men and lie with them in rapturous, unholy sexual union. The scent of their skin is bittersweet, dusky and terminally seductive. Mimosa, orange blossom, neroli and bergamot with a drop of sweet clove."

on me, this is pure, harsh cinnamon. i don't get clove, and i don't get any of the sweetness of orange blossom the way i do with vixen. i would love a nice cinnamon scent, but this one has no sweetness to it, and i need at least a bit of sweetness.

during the day i realized it reminded me of the cinnamon air freshener that is often used in the bathrooms where i work. off to the swaps.

harvest moon

"The autumnal scents of gladiola, chrysanthemum, aster, dahlia, anemone, bergamot, marigold, sage and verbena dust a blend of wine-soaked apples, plums, and red pears, mulling spices and brown sugar, the ivy leaves of Dionysus and Janus’ amaranth and lingum aloe."

this elicited an "ooh" from both sarah and i when we sniffed it in the bottle. warm fruit with just enough sweetness, i was eager to try it. sadly, after a while it fades into a generic sandalwood/resin scent, and loses all the fruit and sweet. perhaps i will try layering this with fruit moon.

hpow sad about harvest moon! it might also work better layered with hesperides, to give it the apple scent that everyone talks about.

i realized last night that it could be body chemistry, too... i'll try it again when i get back into town.
