BPAL gone bad!
it's true, the stuff does go bad, and i've had my first experience with it.
according to my blog, my imp of Ultraviolet arrived on June 25, 2005. it was used and who knows how old when I got it. Now it's close to a year later and this morning I took it out for the first time in months.
I don't recall it smelling this way before. Methinks that I should buy a fresh imp from the lab, I do like mint + violet every so often.
It doesn't smell baaaaaad, like OMGgetitoffmegetitoffme! More like, hey, not so great.

well that's not good. Maybe I should check all of my early purchases.
speaking of mint, I hear there was some kind of mysterious change to Hamadryad. It originally smelled like cinnamon. Now -- since Dec of last year at least -- it smells like wintergreen. How does one get from cinnamon to wintergreen? I don't know, and the lab isn't saying.
The imp I tried (and hated) last year was cinnamon. I'm not crazy about wintergreen either, so I'm not going to try the new one. But I remembered you liked mint, so you might want to check it out.

yeah, i guess a yearly inventory is probably in order-- and i know i should seriously consider imping out some of my 5mls that i know i won't use up, even if i just give them to friends for fun-- just so it doesn't go to waste before it goes bad.
i have also read that some folks are trying to freeze oils to keep them. not sure if this would work-- maybe i will consult the Physics Brain Trust this weekend while i'm visiting.
that's weird about hamadryad, but one thing BPAL has taught me is that smell is a funny thing. how does Beth get the smell of dirt in a bottle? we'll never know. anyway, since i know i need an imp of ultraviolet (and perhaps some other things), i should add an imp of hamadryad to the list as well.

ok, so a) your comment won't post right away because i have to approve it first and b) you might get a server error but your comment probably posted anyway and c) previewing doesn't work so i've removed the preview button.
