BPAL: Blood, Vixen, Dirty, Danube

Reviews lay lie herein. (hmm, i need have! an editor)

Blood

"A vital, bold scent, throbbing with sensuality. Essence of dragon's blood resin, thickened with myrrh and cherry, with a trickle of clove."

many reviewers say this actually does smell like blood to them; i can't say the same. wet, i get a lot of "hippie shop", though i can pick out the clove and cherry. i'm guessing any kind of resin is going to translate as "hippie shop" to me, at this point.

upon drydown, i have to admit that this is declious. the clove seems to be intermingled with orange, and the overall effect is that of a slightly translucent pomander ball. i love making pomanders around fall and christmas, and people who come to visit always comment on the delicious smell, so although i may not wish to wear this in summer, it's surely a keeper.

Vixen

"Lascivious, flirtatious, and vampy as hell. A true heartbreaker’s perfume. The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli."

again, wet, hippie shop. well, it does have patchouli! upon drydown, i cannot stop sniffing my wrist! oh, call me a dirty hippie if you must, but this is really yummy. warm, a bit sweet (that's the orange blossom, i guess). Again, I say, yummy.

Dirty

"A wonderful antidote to an all-nighter oozing with drunken, addled perversion and debauchery. A fresh, crisp white linen scent: perfectly clean, perfectly breezy."

I did exceptionally well with this order-- another delicious scent, but in a completely different way. astringent is the word that comes to mind, but a sort of astringency that you want to keep smelling. perhaps a particularly piquant flower or citrus fruit.

sadly, it fades quickly.

Danube

"Rhododendron and bellflower petals swirl through deep, cool, dark aquatic notes."

wet, a sharp distinctly grapefruit scent. i love grapefruit. and wouldn't you know that all scents containing grapefruit oil have been discontinued-- due to drought in florida? this one must not actually have grapefruit oil in it.

utterly droolworthy. after drydown, it fades and lingers deliciously.

i know i keep saying "delicous, yummy". i'm not hungry, really. these scents just are!

on me Dirty smells like fabric softener sheets for about 10 minutes, then settles into a gorgeous "skin scent," by which I mean it smells not like perfume, but like my own skin smells better than normal. It also fades very fast on me.

do you have Danube? Or was that Amsterdam? I thought you had one of the two.

I have Amsterdam. Did you find it really floral? I haven't had good luck with florals & I haven't even tried Amsterdam because of that.

It's floral, but I think it's faint, like Glasgow. Not overpowering.

Did you say you needed an editor? It's lie.

Danube sounds like something I'd like a lot -- I'm interested to smell some of the scents described as aquatic.
