the paintless look
this is what a bus looks like with no paint. this particular bus hasn't been lacquered, but the owner has been treating it with something to inhibit rust. it's apparently not working particularly well.
i plan to do this to 9 westy. luckily, the artcarz mailing list recently had a thread about clearcoating and tim, who owns the plaidmobile, has found a really good option that is durable and will bond to bare metal.
the inspiration for this look is a microcar called the Voisin Biscooter. i guess i might not get that level of shiny-ness :)

Last night I saw an episode of Pimp My Ride where they took a guy's terrible "probation van" (previously owned by the state of CA)and painted it cherry red with silver stripes. It looked hot. I thought the hot tub was overkill, though.
(it didn't look quite as bad as that bus, though)
