hmmm
as per usual, caught up in my own little world, i was barely aware of the storm supposedly bearing down upon us... i have to admit i have not taken in any of the news coverage about florida. however, getting a tree guy out to my place has just moved up to the very top of the priority list. should my large oak in the front of the house finally give way, because all the branches are now on the house side of the tree (thanks to the moronic power company), the tree will completely destroy my entire house. not good. i also need to find a way to make my basement somewhat livable during a storm, since mose-man and i would actually stand a chance if we were down there and that tree fell.

drove the westy a lot today, then had a look at the engine. man, there's oil all over the place in-- i believe-- the location where mark pointed to a possible head gasket leak. i'm going to clean it up and drive it again tomorrow just to be completely positive of what i'm seeing.
a previous owner also jerry-rigged a cap for the lower coolant expansion tank, the tank that you actually refill. it's just a piece of heavy plastic held in place by a rubber ring. anyway, it's leaking. i know there's pressure in the coolant system, i dunno how much but i'm thinking this is not a good thing and i should do something about it if i can. maybe just put a better piece of plastic on there.
sarah and i wound up going to the q shack in the westy for lunch... the whole trip she kept saying "This is so cool. This is so cool!" heh.
