ap-cray.

i was so focused on the belt that needs replacing that i didn't think too hard about the belt that's in front of it.

i don't think there's any way to replace the alternator belt (which also runs across pulleys on the water pump and the crankshaft) without removing this other belt that goes on the same water pump and crankshaft pulleys.

unfortunately, the charmingly eccentric british shop manual (which says cute things like "spanner" instead of "wrench"), doesn't have much to say about this other belt. there's a diagram of the engine which displays it, and even points to it with a little line labelled "5"-- but the key skips right from #4 to #6.

so hopefully a) i'll win the auction on the better manual, b) it'll be more informative and c) it won't be difficult to remove and replace the belt in question.

and also hopefully d) this will all happen before roswell because i've realized that i'm going to have a hard time detailing the car if i can't get it into my driveway.

(normally i detail the car at my mom's garage-enabled beach house, but my stepsisters are squabbling over who gets it on the one weekend i can leave town before roswell. oh, my difficult life :)
