Whoo! My mom's chocolate-mint brownies won a second place ribbon at the State Fair this year!
Sadly, the family pound cake recipe won nothing :( Amazing, I know... it is extremely fabulous.

Posted by: alicia on October 19, 2004 07:20 PMWe think we saw the brownies! The tag identifying them was covered up, but they looked like mint brownies and had a second place ribbon. I took a picture, hope it turns out!

my mom sent me a photo of her with the ribbon-bearing brownies.. but i'm not sure how she'd feel about me posting it to the web!

Posted by: Phil on October 20, 2004 12:29 AMmaybe pound cake is too competitive? My friend Peggy used to enter her pickled sugar snaps because it was unusual and she felt she had a better chance than with other foods that a lot of people entered.
