the home stretch
mmmm... heat, i thought, when i walked into a friend's place yesterday. he says he can tell people who have been facelifted. i can tell houses that have that warm glow of central heat.
appropriate that i'd use a sports metaphor for the title of this post, as i later found myself in a bar watching the end of a baseketball game that seemed to be important to at least two of the more vocal occupants of the bar. they were more entertaining than the game, although i had to admit that i could see the appeal in watching a bunch of sweaty, half-naked, athletic young men running around.
i'm in the midst of a 'queer as folk' marathon (speaking of half-naked, athletic young men), which means that i've now seen each variation: straight women ('sex & the city'); gay women ('the l word'), straight men ('manchild'), and now gay men. 'sex & the city' will always hold a special place in the pantheon of TV Shows I've Loved, but all of them (except 'manchild') are exceptionally good shows. i do find i have a greater affinity for the shows that focus on women, and lesbian couple in the core of 'queer' characters are not particularly well-drawn, which may be why it doesn't do as much for me as 'the l word' and 'sex'.
i'm pretty fucking tired and i've got a tickle in the back of my throat. i'm glad i'm working from home today; i think if i went into work, i'd be flakey and out of it and whining to d. all day about being tired. this way at least i can hide the flakiness to some degree.
they're here! i wonder if they'll install the central return today?
