Ringing my doorbell will not result in me giving you anything.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- My signature.
- My belief in your religion.
- Money, either for a dog, for work on your part, your alleged charity, or for no real reason at all.
- Access to my telephone, or my house.
- A glass of water.
If my fucking printer worked, i would print this off and post it to my front door.

I've gotta say I don't miss that part of living in Trinity Park. There were always people coming to my door and annoying the hell out of me: Sierra Club, NCPIRG, Democrats (but never Republicans), Jehovah's Witnesses, people who wanted to clean my gutters or some such and scammers/dubious salespeople. So far here I've been visited by an alarm guy and a home remodeling guy, but they specifically targeted me because they knew I had just bought the house.

it was NCPIRG who rang my bell yesterday, as i was trying to relax/unwind. i really do need to put up a sign, it might cut down on the doorbell rings.

i think my friend's door on glendale says, "no soliciting--religious, commercial, or other." political, charitable,,, there are so many categories. maybe just say "no soliciting whatsoever." i feel saying no water comes off sounding too mean, though having that actual policy is fine, so if you feel the need to say it, ok. i bet a sign will help a lot. anytime it doesn't you can order that particular person never to revisit your property, then if they do you can have them charged with trespassing.

I used to have a neatly written note on my doorbell that said No Soliciting but then every time I came home I thought, that looks so mean, and I didn't want to be mean. Now I just don't answer the door. We peek out the shades and then say shhhhhh! until the strangers go away. I guess that's just as mean, but it doesn't feel as mean. (If we're outside anyway, I just say no thanks, have a great day! and that doesn't feel mean at all.)
