primitive photo blog

i'll probably find a way to integrate this into this blog, but for now... i present my super-primitive photoblog, which will get stuff from the phonecam.

i've been looking at fabrics, trying to get ideas of what i might like to do inside 9 Westy. i need to take care of mechanical issues first, but i can't help doing a little bit of research on the creative stuff.

i also have to decide if i want to shop at conventional fabric stores or try to save money by ebaying and thrift storing. ebay holds distinct possibilities, but thrift stores don't usually lend themselves to finding stuff that's specific to a project.

my general thoughts at the moment are that i can make different mattress covers and curtains for different seasons and occasions. for instance, in the winter, it would be nice to have fleece on the mattress, but in the summer canvas or something cooler would be better. I would also like to vary the color scheme.

i once fell in love with an old vw bus that was the kind with many many many windows-- filled with light. the interior was all white vinyl or leather. it was so beautifully bright and airy! i would love to get a similar effect in the van for summertime, so I am seriously considering white vinyl for the mattress. White is not so good for camping, but vinyl would at least clean easily. And of course, for sleeping, the mattress would be covered in a sheet or something. (It might be helpful if I explained that the "downstairs" mattress is also the back seat-- it folds out. You know, I should get some pictures of the interior and post them-- I never did that...)
