OMFG bring your fucking dog in or go play with him.

barkbarkbarkbark. barkbarkbark. barkbarkbarkbarkbark. barkbarkbarkbark. barkbark. barkbarkbarkbark. bark. bark. barkbark.

etc.

j. said that the dog feels as if he's being punished, because he's been separated from his pack, and that's why he barks.

that is so rude to leave a dog outside barking. If my dogs bark I always let them in immediately, whether they've been out for an hour or thirty seconds.

That could be ... or the dog is just bored and barking is something to do.

I always wonder why people get dogs if they're just going to ignore them ...

Sometimes it's good I'm half-deaf. I'm surrounded by dogs. But I still love them. I talk to them all as much as I can, so if they start barking, I can say something; they recognize me and calm down. All except one, who whines for me to come pet her.

Actually, I'm not surrounded -- there's a house across Glendale from me where there's no dog now. There was for 6 years or so. In the two years there hasn't been a dog, my car has been vandalized three times.

they put the dog out at 7:30 this morning, at time past which i had hoped to sleep, it being saturday and all. he barked for about 20 minutes.

there are at least four people in that house who are old enough to take the dog for a walk or down to the park, or even just go out back and play with him. how can all four of them be too busy all the time? gah. i think they just put him out in the morning, on a short tether, and leave him out until dark.

joe, you should buy that house across from you. and get a dog. in the meantime, feel free to visit my neighbors' dog.

I think some dog owners should really have bought an alarm system instead. They have no idea how much time is involved in having a pet and no intention of providing it. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

I'm pretty sure that a dog who barks that much is a legal public nuisance in Durham County. I'd have to look it up again but I think it's barking once per minute for ten minutes. But calling the cops on your neighbors is upping the ante quite a bit & probably not where you want to go with this.

yes, i think security was one of the main reasons they got this dog, because they immediately put up a "beware of the dog" sign after they got him.

he actually tried to bite j. once and failed to do any damage, so i don't know how effective of a security dog he actually is. he's also quite small and not very intimidating.

you're right; calling the cops on them is not something i want to do. maybe the next time they ask me for a favor, i'll mention the problem.

I really fucking hate it when people don't take care of their animals. Oddly, I think that's one of the reasons I don't have a pet.

I gave treats to four neighborhood dogs this morning. One of them cowered in front of me a couple times, which she's never done before. I wonder if someone's been abusing her -- maybe a passer-by.
