maybe i'm not really a night owl after all...

via boingboing.

TV and computers screw up your circadian rhythms...

why this article focuses on kids i'm not sure. if there's something to this, then it explains a lot, for me. also for my brothers, who both stay up all night playing online games, all the time.

if we're not supposed to watch TV, use the computer or read a book before bed, what the heck are we supposed to do? It doesn't take a half hour to wash my face.

yeah, i was thinking the same thing. it seems like even having a conversation or listening to music could be potentially mentally stimulating, and could lead to wakefulness.

when i had really bad insomnia, i did develop a pre-bed ritual that was helpful, involving a warm bath with candles and brian eno (ambient, not 70's-era). and melatonin.

Lisa,
I promise I'm not stalking you. I've tried accessing your page many, many times today. The page never fully loads dis-allowing me any further than yesterday's entry. I thought, I'd email you personally but cannot access a link to your email address. So, here I am hijacking your comment box. BUT not before I googled your name (in an attempt to get an email address)and discovered that you work for SAS. Do you still? Forget David Byrne & kissing strange NC boys, I'm gonna wring all the info out of you that I can about working there. This is the same place that is notorious for treating their employees so well, correct? They have a sprawling campus with all sorts of subsidized/or free activites and memberships, right? Ohmygod, ohmygod, now I'm having heart palpitations. I cannot wait to hear all about it. Are they hiring????
