license obtained.
mood: filthy.
when you go to renew your license:
- wear your most comfortable shoes
- bring something to read
- make sure you get in the right line
- if you have an appointment, be agressive about pushing past the 200 people who are shooting daggers at you with their eyes. they've been there for five hours, so they're a little cranky.
- be absolutely sure you've got the stuff you need. license, $15 in cash or a personal check, social. actually, they didn't look at my social but i'd advise having it just in case.
- allow at least two hours. maybe if you get there at 7am you would only have to wait the hour until they open-- i dunno.
- if you are spanish/english bilingual, be prepared to translate.
one of the women who worked there said, "it's going to be like this until february 2nd". so i asked the woman who helped me, "what happens on february 2nd?", and she said, "we don't know."

february 2nd, eh?
i guess whatever magical event is to happen on that day will clear the way for me to sail smoothly through my renewal before my bday.
yeah, right.

i have a very special license case. i no longer have my physical texas license, and it just expired. i've tried SEVEN times over the last six months to get a n.c. license (twice in the past week), but something goes wrong each time. in order to get said n.c. license, i have to take a driving test, and the three out of seven times i've actually gotten the dmv person out to my car something has gone wrong (car hadn't been registered (fixed)headlight is out (fixed), horn stopped working (fixed, then broken again). since i have no valid license, driving gives me an anxiety attack. ah!
i heard that the hillsborough dmv is the fastest in the triangle.
