in with the rain comes the dirt
i won't say that all of my cleaning work in the basement has been undone-- not even close-- but the results of today's rain were a little demoralizing.
after work today i added the extenders to the gutter downspouts. next time it rains-- which will be friday, i guess-- the water will be controlled away from the house a little better. we'll see if that helps.
last night i demolished most of the bizzaro "shower stall", ugh. this afternoon i cooked up the idea to use the fiberglass sheets as ramps so i can get my lawnmower up and down the stairs to the basement. that would be hottt! then i could get a nicer, cordless lawnmower and have a safe place to store it and recharge it.
i'm totally laying the basement out in my mind... it divides itself nicely into zones: the laundry area, garden tools storage (the "coal room"), and a workshop area under the large window. there's so much space down there... if i can get the basic problems under control, it could be a very useful and even pleasant space. i'm excited about the idea of transforming it. i hope that "if" isn't too big of an "if"....
and in the "it's the little things" department, i replaced my toilet seat today. i think the previous owner of my house went out of her way to find the most cheaply constructed toilet seat available. the one i installed won't bend, of that i'm fairly certain.
