GPS

so, i know next to nothing about GPS units. would it be possible to get a handheld GPS that has a detailed map of manhattan in it and then plug in the locations of places i might want to visit in the city, so when i'm walkin' around the city i can be like, "oh, i'm just two blocks away from that cool tiki bar!"

please, school me.

That sounds completely possible ... I know that you can put destinations into your car navigation system ... assuming of course that you have one ... and then the bmap will show you exactly where you are in relation to your destination. Since a GPS is exactly the same thing as a car navigation system, then yes, it should be possible. But I don't know what to tell you as far a procuring the best one or anything.

But y'know, thouse laminated fold-up maps are really good and so much simpler and cheaper. And since yo can always find out where you are simply by looking up at the street signs, it seems like it would be just as good.

When are you going to NYC? I have a couple of subway tickets with a ride or two remaining on them, provided I can find them, of course. I haven't seen them since the move, but I think I know where they are.
