difficult re-entry

to say that my re-entry into everyday life has been difficult would be an understatement.

i've yawned through the last three days of work. i've gotten an almost miraculous amount of stuff done, but it has all occured while fending off the intense desire to SLEEP NOW.

my caffiene intake is reaching near-legendary proportions. it does almost nothing to wake me up.

thinking i was surely due to start adjusting, i set my alarm for 7am instead of 8am this morning.

felt ok up until a couple of minutes ago. now i'm bordering on exhausted. my co-worker joe is bringing me a delicious coffee beverage from java jive. you know when people say, "I can't wait!" and what it really means is that they're excited and looking forward to something, but they really can wait? well, i can't wait and by that i mean i can't wait. i need caffiene now!

this is seriously getting so old. i guess tonight i will follow emergency procedures for sleep catch-up; force self to bed at 10pm after doing only relaxing things; set alarm for a late hour; close windows, overfeed cat (not that that will actually shut him up, but it might delay him), etc.

of course this means that i get nothing done this evening. maybe knock out the front lawn if i have the energy. geah.

I find that doing something physical late in the day makes me tired and helps me sleep, but doing something mental wakes me up and makes it really hard to sleep. So working on the lawn might be a good idea if you can manage it.

Are you a napper? My mid-day naps make a world of difference to my afternoon and evening happiness and productivity.

yeah, one reason i'd like to do some yard work this evening is to help myself get to bed earlier and sleep better. i'll have to stay off the computer, too.

i got to sleep ok last night, but i left my windows open (which is noisy) and my mom told me some disturbing stuff about work that was bothering me as i was falling asleep. so i probably didn't get the full benefit of the sleep i did get.

i love to take naps, but they do tend to cause me sleep problems if i do them regularly-- and of course, they sort of frown on napping during work hours, here :)
