Day
i'll just preface the following feel-sorry-for-me whine by saying that a) i am nice and warm right now, due in large part to a loaned space heater and a gift of firewood and b) i had a nice time hanging out with sarah and the rest of the Girl Posse, and seeing Chris Noth in a play at Duke.
so this morning, i pretty much had my morning planned down to the minute. it was one of those mornings when i would have normally taken advantage of my flexible work schedule, and slept in til 8:30... but i had a contractor coming out at 8:30 for a quote, so i couldn't do that. well, he was supposed to come at 8:30, and if he had, i would have eaten my breakfast, had my tea, and combed my hair before he arrived. instead he decided to impress me by coming early. fortunately, i was clothed when he arrived. i had to take periodic breaks from our conversation to turn my bacon over.
so the morning was kind of a blur, with meetings and stuff, and by afternoon i was exhausted and out of it. i left work early so i could pick up the pod.
right after i go on to duke street, the power steering went out on the ford, and the battery light came on. it's a handful without power steering so i was busy deciding what to do and trying not to run into anyone. i decided not to try and make it to the shop at rush hour since i was close to home. then i noticed that the temperature gauge was pegged... crap. i probably should have stopped right then and there but i was sooooo close to home, it was so cold and man i wanted to get home. so i went the rest of the way and cut the ignition abruptly as soon as i was in front of my house.
so tomorrow morning i'll have to call AAA to tow it out to the shop. hopefully mom & wayne will be able to pick it up directly from the shop so i don't have to arrange for another ride out there. i was pretty pleased that i was able to get two cars serviced with only one ride out there and one ride back.
