dang!
what a day!
got in to work... got word from mom that her cat is dying :(
called over to lonnie's to see about him working on 9 Westy. talked to a very personable fellow named hodges who i liked a lot. said he'd get an estimate from lonnie on the work i want done. i mentioned that they might know the guy who works on my bug-- mark. hodges said, "yeah, i know him. i know him because we just hired him, and he's standing right here next to me!" wahoo!!! that just made my day. i talked to mark on the phone for a little while. he seemed pretty excited too and i think this is going to be a nice situation. i hope! now i can bring both spacepod and 9 westy to lonnie's, which will be really great.
anyway, it was nice to talk to these guys, they are all vw enthusiasts and they made me feel good about the decision to have them do the major mechanicals on 9 Westy. if they can get her to where i feel safe driving her then there will still be plenty for me to do and learn on, and i won't have this feeling like i've been defeated by this project before i even begin.
so the guys at work invited me to lunch with them, and took my suggestion of dalat with enthusiasm. yum. after we got back from lunch, i walked right into a hornet's nest... a big panic, i didn't have my pager (i don't have to wear my pager when i'm not oncall-- and i had my cellphone-- jeebus), etc.
so after that brouhaha was over, this dude who owns a bug and lives in rawley and is all enthused, who i got in touch with recently, IM'd me (although i'd told him basically not to-- oh well) and he's gonna come over this weekend so we can steam clean his seats and talk about him taking over newbugcarolinas (hopefully). (oh, don't get excited... he's like 23. i don't do 23. anymore.)
then i had this meeting where they want me to redesign this huge important tech support app that's being deployed on the external web, because the UI was designed by programmers and it looks like 1997 all over again. yuck.
and then there was this brouhaha on the xdu list and i kinda got snarked at by this girl who didn't understand my point and rick! leapt to my defense, and that was all happening without me knowing what the hell was going on because it's been a Day and a Half and i can't keep up with all the mail when it's like that.
and now it's time to go home. surely.
and tonight i really will shop (for a birthday present) and eat takeout (leftovers from dalat) and yes, perhaps even watch mad about you. just like i said.

Just a comment on your comments--I can't believe people are still writing about Clinton Kelly! You're still topping a Google search on those three words. Crazy!

Hi Lisa,
This is Clinton Kelly of TLC's What Not to Wear. Wondering if you could do me a favor: A friend of mine recently told me about your boards, and it does look like the topic has been closed, but I'm asking you if you could please delete the blatantly slanderous remarks about Wayne's assistant (and/or the thread altogether). The statements are untrue and malicious, and one should consider the source from which they emanated. I think they've been online long enough, and I'm asking you, person to person, to remove them. Not only are they damaging to my career, but to me as an individual. I'd be more than happy to discuss this with you over the phone if you have any objections. You can email me at the address above (which, I'm trusting, is for your eyes only) with your contact information if you see fit. Of course, I understand and respect your rights as a webmaster, but I'm hoping in the interest of fairness that you can see my side of the story.
Sincerely, Clinton
