Very nice!

Thanks for all the pics. I feel like I'm visiting along with you.

My best friend's extended family often gathers for a week at the beach, and I sometimes join them. My window into "what if I had been born white?"

i'm glad you like them. i was kind of afraid that it was too many, but i really love the photoblogging. it's highly addictive.

i was thinking about how the part of canada that they're from (rural nova scotia) seems very white. i wanted to ask whether there's a native population, but i was kind of afraid to get into a potentially touchy subject with folks i don't know well.

there was an interesting moment at dinner last night when the subject of Bush and peace came up, and there was this awkward silence, and someone said, "well, let's just drop that subject!" and we did. i think because we don't know each other well enough to get into heavy disagreements. there's also a long history of bill having been somewhat MIA from the family, and with last year's reuinion in canada for dede's funeral, he's come back into the fold and no one wants to jeapordize things.

i've had a train of thought recently about the level of privelege i've grown up with as a result of being part of this family. there's no doubt race plays a role in that, and sometimes i think i'm the only one in the family who thinks about that.
